Abuja, Nigeria — August 19, 2026: The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at transforming and fully digitising Nigeria’s Hajj operations.
The partnership is expected to introduce greater use of technology across the Hajj management process, from pilgrim registration and documentation to information management and service delivery.
The initiative is designed to make Hajj operations more efficient, transparent and accessible while reducing reliance on manual processes. By leveraging digital technologies, the two agencies aim to improve coordination among stakeholders and provide Nigerian pilgrims with a smoother experience before, during and after the pilgrimage.
The collaboration also highlights the growing role of digital transformation in managing large-scale religious travel involving thousands of Nigerian pilgrims each year.
For intending pilgrims, improved digital systems could mean easier access to important information, faster processing of documentation and better communication with relevant Hajj authorities.
The NITDA-NAHCON partnership therefore represents an important step towards modernising Nigeria’s Hajj administration and ensuring that technology plays a central role in delivering more efficient and pilgrim-focused services.
Nigeria is moving towards a more digital Hajj system, with NITDA and NAHCON working together to use technology to improve the overall pilgrimage experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
