The idea of the Independent Hajj Reporters’ (IHR) Post-Hajj Award was conceived in 2014 as part of efforts to recognise dedication, excellence and commitment to improving Hajj administration and pilgrims’ welfare.
The award was established primarily to motivate Hajj administrators and stakeholders to remain committed to delivering better services to pilgrims and to acknowledge individuals and organisations whose contributions have positively impacted the Hajj industry.
Independent Hajj Reporters has, over the years, distinguished itself as a registered non-governmental organisation dedicated to monitoring, reporting and promoting transparency in Hajj operations. Through its members and correspondents, IHR monitors Hajj activities round the clock every year, providing timely reports and drawing attention to issues affecting pilgrims.
The organisation’s founder, Ibrahim Muhammed, has spent more than 22 years serving as a Hajj official at both state and national levels. Over the course of his career, he has served on virtually all major Hajj-related committees, giving him extensive experience and insight into the administration and operations of Hajj.
The National Coordinator of IHR is also a public affairs analyst and columnist with a national daily, bringing together professional journalism, public affairs analysis and practical Hajj administration experience. The National Executive Members are veteran of Hajj and a professional media engagement personalities.
Beyond the award, IHR’s annual Hajj lecture has also become an important platform for post-Hajj reflection and assessment. The lecture has helped reshape post-Hajj activities by providing an avenue for stakeholders to review operations, identify challenges and discuss practical measures for improving future Hajj exercises.
As an independent organisation, IHR has continued to build its reputation and credibility through professionalism, responsible reporting and the commitment of its members to accurate and balanced coverage of Hajj activities.
The organisation remains committed to using its platform to encourage accountability, recognise excellence and promote initiatives capable of improving Hajj services and the overall experience of pilgrims.
The Post-Hajj Award, therefore, represents more than a ceremony. It is part of IHR’s broader commitment to encouraging excellence and ensuring that those who dedicate themselves to improving Hajj administration and pilgrims’ welfare are recognised and celebrated.
