Despite a seven-day extension granted by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the uploading of pilgrims’ passports, some states are yet to complete the process as the new deadline draws closer.
Information obtained by Hajj Reporters indicates that the extension, which was meant to provide relief to state pilgrims’ boards and private operators, has not significantly improved compliance, with the portal set to close in 48 hours. The extension, which started on the 9th of February, will elapse on the midnight of Monday 16th of February
Private tour operators said the additional time offered little benefit, as they were unable to utilise the extra 6,000 slots allocated to them. They attributed the setback to their inability to secure accommodation and tent spaces in Mina and other camps, noting that the booking portal for these facilities was not reopened during the extension period.
Stakeholders said the development has created uncertainty around preparations for the 2026 Hajj, as affected states and operators race against time to complete the process.
They expressed hope that the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will consider granting further extension to enable full utilisation of the allocated slots.
