The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed November 2025 as the deadline for intending pilgrims to pay the initial deposit of N8.5 million for the 2026 Hajj.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, announced the deadline during a stakeholders’ meeting at Alausa, Ikeja, stressing that the decision aligns with the guidelines and calendar issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
He said early commencement of sales of forms and timely payments would enable the state to conclude all processes before December and secure the 2,236 slots allocated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Layode urged stakeholders to ensure intending pilgrims are medically fit to avoid health complications during the exercise.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Dr. Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, commended stakeholders for their role in previous Hajj operations, while the Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, reaffirmed government’s confidence in their capacity to deliver a successful outing in 2026.
In a related development, Ajomagberin led a delegation to appreciate philanthropist Alhaji Libari Oseni for sponsoring pilgrims in 2025, urging his continued support for the 2026 Hajj.
