The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON has inspected the Bauchi State Hajj Camp as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj operation.
During the visit, the NAHCON Coordinator for States and the North-East zone, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Shira, stated that the inspection was aimed at conducting a comprehensive assessment of the camp’s facilities and overall readiness to accommodate intending pilgrims.
He commended the Bauchi State Government for its collaboration with the pilgrims’ board in developing the Hajj camp, noting that the facility would play a crucial role in preparing pilgrims through proper orientation and guidance on Hajj rites.
Ahmed Shira further observed that, compared to Hajj camps in other states he had visited, the Bauchi facility stands out due to its modern infrastructure, including the availability of a clinic and other essential amenities designed to support pilgrims’ welfare.
He applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his commitment to improving Hajj operations in the state and urged the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to ensure proper maintenance and monitoring of the facilities provided at the camp.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, expressed appreciation to NAHCON for the visit.
He explained that the inspection was part of broader efforts to ensure that all arrangements are in line with established guidelines for the 2026 Hajj, particularly those set by Saudi authorities.
Dujuma of Bauchi, added that the board remains committed to ensuring full compliance with international standards and operational procedures to guarantee a hitch-free pilgrimage.
The Executive Secretary however called on intending pilgrims to make proper use of the Hajj camp facilities, emphasizing the importance of discipline and adherence to guidelines for the benefit of future pilgrims.
The inspection forms part of NAHCON’s nationwide assessment of Hajj facilities as preparations intensify for the 2026 pilgrimage season.
