The Edo State delegation responsible for leading pilgrims to the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia yesterday inspected the Hajj Camp in Benin City to ensure everything is in order for the departing pilgrims.
The delegation also visited the ongoing construction of the camp’s second phase, initiated by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Honourable Abubakar Dada Zubairu and Shiekh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, members of the delegation, praised Governor Obaseki for his generosity towards the state’s Muslim community.
Hon. Zubairu highlighted the ongoing camp expansion as a testament to the governor’s support for Muslims under his leadership.
Shiekh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, assured everyone that the state is fully prepared for the departure.

He confirmed that 300 pilgrims from Edo State have been qualified to perform the Hajj, with the inaugural flight leaving Nigeria on Wednesday May 15.
According to him, “The first flight carrying pilgrims from Nigeria will depart on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. It will first transport pilgrims from Kebbi State, followed by Abuja and Nasarawa. Starting from May 17, there will be five daily flights departing Nigeria for Saudi Arabia,”
The delegation consists of Honourable Abubakar Dada Zubairu, commissioner for the Ministry of Youths and Humanitarian Affairs (first Ameerul Hajj); Alhaji Abdulfatah Enabule, Chief Imam of the Benin Central Mosque (second Ameerul Hajj); and Shiekh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The board’s officials are diligently finalising arrangements for Edo State’s designated departure date for the 2024 Hajj.
