Four months from the start of Hajj 2025, the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, unveiled the new measures set up to improve the organization of the pilgrimage. These reforms aim to guarantee better travel and stay conditions for Senegalese pilgrims.
According to Yassine Fall, three major changes mark this edition of the Hajj: the Revue du specifications, a new regulatory framework has been established to govern the trip of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, thus ensuring better supervision and more structured service.
The decentralization of inscriptions and enrollment, in addition to Dakar, unique counters were opened in Diourbel, Saint-Louis, Tambacounda and Ziguinchor in order to facilitate the inscription of pilgrims. An improvement in stay conditions, additional efforts have been undertaken to guarantee better support for pilgrims once in Saudi Arabia.
In accordance with the authorities’ recommendations, the ministry has reorganized private tour operators, now grouped into 10 entities of 1,000 pilgrims each. A charter was signed by all tour operators to ensure stricter supervision of travel.
In addition, the conversion rate of the CFA franc to Saudi Riyal was set at 168 FCFA for 1 Riyal, against 162 FCFA last year. This increase is explained by tensions in the Middle East and the fluctuation of the dollar, said the minister.
For this edition, 12,860 Senegalese pilgrims will make the trip to the holy places of Islam. 80% of these pilgrims will be supported by private tour operators.
Registrations take place from January 30 to March 7, 2025, with the help of several state services, including the police, regional governance, health and public hygiene.
Saudi Minister of Hajj and Oumra, Tawfiq Bin Fawzan al-Rabiah, also made an official visit to Dakar to provide facilities to Senegalese pilgrims. The departure of the first flights is scheduled between May 17 and 24, 2025. The HAJJ at the beginning of June 4, 2025, the return of the pilgrims is scheduled from June 12 to 24, 2025
With these innovations, Senegal aims to provide better experience to its pilgrims, optimizing administrative formalities and improving the conditions of travel and stay in Saudi Arabia.
