The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has partnered with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Kaduna State University (KASU) to sensitise intending pilgrims on the dangers of drug abuse ahead of the 2026 Hajj.

The programme, held at Sardauna Memorial School in Kaduna, was organised in collaboration with the Centre for Forensic, Hard Drugs Analysis and Sensor Technology of KASU, as Bita activities entered their 16th week across registration centres.

Speaking at the event, the NDLEA Assistant Commander in charge of counselling, treatment and rehabilitation, Shuaibu Muhammad, warned pilgrims against carrying or consuming prohibited substances, stressing that drug-related offences attract severe penalties, especially in Saudi Arabia.

The Director of the KASU centre, Salamatu Hayatu, urged participants to comply strictly with the laws of the host country and avoid any involvement with illegal substances throughout the pilgrimage.

In his remarks, the agency’s Director of Enlightenment, Abubakar Alhassan, commended the collaboration and called on intending pilgrims to cooperate with authorities and maintain discipline in line with international standards.

Also, the Director of Administration and Finance, Halima Babale, advised pilgrims to uphold the image of Kaduna State and Nigeria during the exercise.
