The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has expressed interest in learning from Indonesia’s experience in Hajj fund management as part of efforts to strengthen its operations and improve services to pilgrims.

NAHCON Chairman, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, made this known on Thursday while receiving a delegation from Indonesia’s Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), led by Prof. Arif Mufraini, during a courtesy visit in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Yusuf said consultation and the exchange of experiences were essential in managing large-scale Hajj operations, adding that NAHCON was committed to developing a more sustainable and self-reliant operational model.

He disclosed that the commission was exploring investment opportunities, particularly in Hajj-related infrastructure such as accommodation facilities, with plans to begin strategic investments by 2027 to reduce reliance on government financial support.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Mufraini said the delegation came to strengthen the long-standing relationship between the two institutions and explore areas of cooperation in Hajj fund management and pilgrim services.

He revealed that BPKH currently manages Hajj savings from about 5.6 million subscribers, with funds invested in line with established regulations to support sustainable Hajj operations.

Both organisations used the meeting to exchange ideas on improving Hajj administration, pilgrim welfare and institutional collaboration for the benefit of pilgrims in Nigeria and Indonesia.
