Press Release
In continuation of its robust statewide 2025 Hajj sensitisation, enlightenment, and advocacy, the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the board has taken its sensitisation drive to another three Bauchi LGAs to meet with grassroots stakeholders.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, led the advocacy team and called for stakeholders’ continuous partnership to create awareness of the upcoming 2025 Hajj exercise.
Addressing the key hajj stakeholders at Alkaleri, Kirfi, and Toro LGAs, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris noted that Bauchi State received a 3720 hajj allocation from the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) and is now facing challenges to meet the impending remittance deadline of 18 November 2024, which requires 50% of the hajj fare.
He further stated that NAHCON pegged N8.5m as the initial deposit and his Board decided to fix N6.5m considering a lot of issues, stressing that all intending pilgrims are expected to make their complete payment of hajj fare before 7th January 2025.
Imam Abdurrahman acknowledged that it is not as if intending pilgrims are not aware of the issue, perhaps they need a continuous and consistent awareness of the 2025 Hajj Calendar.
He reminded that Bauchi State had started registering its intending pilgrims in September 2024, and advised those who are yet to do, so to take advantage of the grace period to quickly come for the registration, according to him, this will enable the Board to remit the funds before the imminent deadline lapsed.
Imam Abdurrahman therefore appealed to the Local Government Councils, Traditional and religious institutions, the Media, Civil Society Organisations as well as other stakeholders to assist the Board in the sensitisation and encourage the intending pilgrims to quickly register themselves.
He used the forum to reiterate the Governor Bala administration’s desire to ensure the Welfare of the state pilgrims in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, despite the challenges posed by the National economic meltdown.
