The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has called for early and coordinated preparations for the 2026 Hajj medical operations, stressing the need for strict compliance with health guidelines issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during a meeting with State Medical Team Leads at the Hajj House on December 29, 2025, Professor Usman said the engagement marked the beginning of structured preparations for the 2026 Hajj medical programme. He noted that healthcare delivery remains a core responsibility in the successful conduct of the pilgrimage.
He explained that the meeting was convened to align all stakeholders with the 2026 Hajj health guidelines issued by Saudi authorities, describing them as mandatory and non-negotiable. According to him, Nigeria must fully comply with the regulations to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pilgrims.
The NAHCON chairman emphasised that effective healthcare delivery during Hajj requires early planning, coordination and strict adherence to professional standards. He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to ensuring that medical services for Nigerian pilgrims meet acceptable international and Saudi benchmarks.
Professor Usman assured participants of NAHCON’s continued support, guidance and oversight, noting that strong collaboration between the commission, state authorities and medical teams is essential for successful Hajj operations.
He concluded by urging participants to engage actively in the discussions, expressing confidence that the meeting would strengthen medical preparedness for the 2026 Hajj.
